Taliban Graveyard

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN - APRIL 2: Among hundreds of graves, an Afghan taliban fighter, Qaridad Mohammed, lies buried in a cemetary on April 2, 2009 in Deh Sabs village, north of Kabul, Afghanistan. Most of the several hundred buried afghan taliban, Pakistanis and Arabs, died in the Shomali plains 10 kms away fighting troops from the Northern Alliance under control of Ahmed Shah Masood in 1998-1999. According to a village resident, locals from across the road helped the taliban quickly bury the dead. Grave markers clearly note the dead militant's name, affiliation and country. Anti-taliban locals recently broke the gravestones. (Photo by Robert Nickelsberg/Getty Images)
