Traditional Circus of Bangladesh
GAZIPUR, DHAKA, BANGLADESH, DHAKA, BANGLADESH - 2015/08/02: An acrobat applying make up in preparation for the next show. Bangladesh has a long history of traditional circus troupes. Currently about eight large circus companies are performing around the country. Most of the performers simply followed in the footsteps of their parents, often entering the circus as children. Show highlights include tightrope walking, cycling, acrobatics and skits involving animals. In recent decades, traditional circuses have been in decline as new forms of entertainment challenge its appeal. If this rich part of Bangladeshi culture is to survive, however, it will need active support from the government. (Photo by Probal Rashid/LightRocket via Getty Images)
