Manifestation Contre Pollution d'Air à Chamonix

[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] Demonstrators protest against air pollution in Chamonix France, February 8 2014 holding a sign reading in English "Let's Change the Air" (French original - "Changeons d'Air"). Protestors from several citizen's groups (Inspire, ARSMB (Association for the Respect of the Site of Mont Blanc), Les Nez Noirs) marched from the Tunnel du Mont Blanc down the motorway "Autoroute Blanche" to rally at the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié in front of the Office of Tourism in the centre of Chamonix Mont Blanc, France - a town known as the capital of Alpinism in Europe. Organisers stated around 1300 people marched along the Autoroute Blanche starting from the Tunnel du Mont Blanc to town center to protest the continuing air pollution problems facing the town, and the lack of state government action on the problem. Protestors included the mayors and politicians from several local towns in the region including Chamonix Mont Blanc and Les Houches. Speakers mentioned continuing and growing health problems due to the poor air quality in the region, which exceeds the allowed governmental pollution limits close to 40 days per year and on some days now requires school children to stay indoors at recess.
