North Korean Premier Kim Il Sung
Korean officials unexpectedly agreed to UN demands for immediate exchange of sick and wounded POWs in Korea. General Mark Clark's headquarters announced it would be ready to begin the exchange "within a matter of days" The offer was made in a message from Premier Kim Il Sung of North Korea to General Clark, commander of UN forces in the Far East, broadcast over Peking Radio.
