Migrants Begin Their Journey Through Europe In Kos

With little money to fund their journeys north after paying exorbitant rates to smugglers in Turkey, many migrants sleep on the streets of Kos to save their resources. From Kos, many migrants journey north to Athens and then the Greek border town of Idomeni before crossing into Macedonia. Since the beginning of 2015 the number of migrants using the so-called 'Balkans route' has exploded with migrants arriving in Greece from Turkey and then travelling on through Macedonia and Serbia before entering the EU via Hungary.
