William Beebe with Bathysphere and Its Owners

(Original Caption) Miss Gloria Hollister, Dr. William Beebe, and John Teevan are seen here with their bathysphere, aboard the S.S. Bermuda as they arrived in New York from Bermuda on November 23rd. The bathysphere is constructed of steel, and connected by oxygen tubes to the surface of the water. In this steel ball, Dr. Beebe descended 2,200 feet under the surface of the water in Bermuda and through the quartz windows explored the ocean floor.
