Lower Saxony Holds State Elections
BERLIN, GERMANY - JANUARY 20: Philipp Roesler, head of the Free Democratic Party (German: Freie Demokratische Partei, or FDP) and German economy minister, gives a statement at the party's headquarters on January 20, 2013 in Berlin, Germany. A regional election is being held in the German state of Lower Saxony to elect the 152 members of the state parliament, or Landtag. The results of the vote are seen as an indicator for how parties may fare in national elections in September, and the FDP, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition partner, risked being ejected from the regional chamber if the party's vote was below the five percent threshold needed to win seats. The first exit polls indicated the party received 10 percent. (Photo by Adam Berry/Getty Images)
