Picture dated 04 December 1953 in Hanoi shows North Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh (L, 1890-1969), the founder of the Vietnam Workers' Party, addressing the members of the Viet Min during a party congress. Viet Minh (League for the Independence of Vietnam) was a politico-military organization formed by Ho Chi Minh in 1941. It included nationalists and communists, and aimed at liberating Vietnam from the Japanese and gaining independence from France.
