COURTS PC Trevor Standing

Previously unissued file dated 29/1/97 of post traumatic stress disorder sufferer, Pc Trevor Standing, who pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court 14/04/97 to stealing 7,800 cash from pensioner Kathleen Lyons on or about June 25, 1996 at her home in Livingstone Road, Thornton Heath. Sentence on Standing, who was based at South Norwood police station and had befriended the pensioner, was adjourned until April 30 for pre-sentence reports and medical reports to be prepared. Pc Standing was jailed for 18 months on 30/04/97 . Standing, 36, wept as Judge Geoffrey Rivlin QC branded him a " mean opportunist thief" for the crime he committed against 80-year-old Kathleen Lyons. Photo by Neil Munns/PA.
