Kagoshima Governor OKs Sendai Nuclear Plant Restart, First After Fukushima
KAGOSHIMA, JAPAN - NOVEMBER 07: The Kagoshima prefectural assemblymen stand to approve the resumption of the Sendai nuclear power plant on November 7, 2014 in Kagoshima, Japan. With his approval, Kagoshima Prefecture governor Yuichiro Ito became the first governor hosting a nuclear plant to give the green light to a restart under stricter safety standards set in the aftermath of the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March 2011. Though all set conditions have now been met, operations at the plant are not expected to resume until 2015, as screening by the Nuclear Regulation Authority is continuing on the plant's construction work plan and changes in operating and emergency regulations.
