OTSU, JAPAN - JANUARY 08: The urinals having a water basin at the top are placed at a toilet of the the Otsu Service Area on the Meishin Expressway on January 8, 2014 in Otsu, Shiga, Japan. Jointly developed by West Nippon Expressway Co. and Toto Ltd., a leading manufacturer of bathroom products, the urinal took home the 2013 Eco-Products Awards Steering Committee Chairperson's Award in the eco-services category in December. The urinal has a water basin at the top where users can wash their hands. The water from the basin is then recycled for flushing. They use 15 percent less water than conventional urinals, which require 1 to 2 liters of water per flush. (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)
