Wearing red ochre face paint, feathers and tribal beads, in a remote part of the Sahara desert near lake Chad, the nomadic Wodaabe tribe (a subgroup of the Fulani ethnic group) take part in an annual courtship ritual competition called Gerewol ( Guérewol ) during which Young men dressed in elaborate ornamentation and made up in traditional face painting gather in lines to dance and sing, vying for the attentions of marriageable young women.
