False Coral Snake Atractus elaps feeding on a Giant Earthworm on the rainforest floor in Ecuador

Snakes usually swallow their prey whole but this Atractus is tearing off pieces and consuming the worm a bit at a time. Scavenging ants and wasps are sharing the prey. Giant Amazonian Earthworms (Rhinodrilus sp.) are among the worlds largest terrestrial invertebrates and can surpass 2 metres in length.
