Matheson Lang
Actor Matheson Lang (1878 - 1948) playing 'King Robert of Sicily' in the 'Proud Prince' at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Lang was the son of a clergyman and the cousin of the Archbishop of Canterbury so his decision to turn to the stage caused some controversy in his family. He was a fine stage actor and one of the first to move into silent films, making his debut in 'The Merchant of Venice' (1916). (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)
