Caught at the Plate
Allen Van Alstyne, Boston Red Sox outfielder, is out at home plate as Elston Howard, Yankee rookie catcher, puts tag on him in the fifth inning of their game at ST. Petersburg, Fla., March 13th. Van Alstyne tried to score from third on outfielder Bob Cerv's overthrow of home. Pitcher Lou Sleater recovered the ball and pegged to Howard for the out.
