Color Guard at American Nazi Rally
(Original Caption) American Flags, Swastika and Washington. New York: A color guard holding American Flags and a banner, inscribed with the Nazi Swastika stands before an immense portrait of George Washington at the German-American Bund meeting in New York's Madison Square Garden. The Bund meeting was called by its chief, Fritz Kuhn who stated it was a "Pro-American celebration of George Washington's birthday". Because of bomb threats in an anonymous letter and announcements that Leftist groups would picket the meeting, some 4,700 policemen had been ordered to surround the great sports arena here. Minor disturbances between pickets and police broke out.
