An Egyptian farmer milks a cow born with artificial insemination, using techniques developed during a 10-year scientific cooperation program between Egypt and France, at her farm in Beni Sueif, 200 kms south of Cairo, 29 October 2007. The animal, a cross breed of local 'baladi' cow and rustic French tarentaise race, belongs to the third generation of the project which aims to produce more beef and milk in the Middle East's most populous country. Cows born in the project produce 18 kgs of milk per day, almost five times more than regular cattle. More than 150,000 cows have been inseminated at the request of farmers by visiting veterinarians.
