UNITED KINGDOM - APRIL 12: British Railways Class 3MT 2-6-2 T steam locomotive number 82029 on the Penrith to Darlington line, 1957. Before 1948 there were over 400 different types of steam locomotives, but following the nationalisation of the railways British Railways decided on a policy of standardisation. Twelve different �standard� types of locomotive were designed for use on Britain's railways, including this one.
