Cat head as head of the goddess Bastet

Cat head as head of the goddess Bastet, Bronze, Cast, Bronze, Total: Height: 9.7 cm; Width: 6.4 cm; Depth: 10 cm, Small sculptures/small sculptures, Three-dimensional sculptures, Cat, Egyptian goddesses, demi-goddesses, heroines, Antiquity, The stylized cat head of grey-green patinated bronze with malachite snout is a symbol of the goddess Bastet. The raised ears with a vertical central groove have a pierced hole at the lower end for the insertion of earrings (the pendant Inv. 1924.169 is not included). A scarab in relief is placed in the middle of the forehead. The illusion of a cat's gaze is created by recessed semicircular glass eye discs with a stylized yellow-red painting with three dark green lines radiating upwards from the lower center. Bastet was the daughter of the sun god Ra, depicted as a cat goddess. She was considered a friendly, benevolent protector of mother and child; women requested fertility and an uncomplicated birth from her. In her nature she was the opposite of the warlike, dangerous lion goddess Sachmet. All over Egypt there are cemeteries of mummified cats and bronze representations.
