China's booming economy expanded 9.5 percent last year after 9.3 percent in 2003 in an indication tightening measures have not proved effective enough and more could be in store, as the fourth quarter alone showed growth steaming ahead at 9.5 percent year-on-year, up from 9.1 percent in the previous three months despite Beijing's efforts to cool the economy.
