NEW YORK, UNITED STATES - 2021/08/01: Democratic Party Mayoral candidate Eric Adams in deep thoughts before addressing press on violent crime on 37th Avenue in Queens where 10 people were shot the night before. Adams proposed joint gangs and guns task force with federal, state and city and bring back a reformed version of Anti-Crime undercover police unit. In the first 7 months of 2021 there have been 898 shootings with 1,056 victims. The latest shooting in Queens where 10 people were shot and 7 of them were innocent bystanders prompted mayoral candidates to address violent crime and offer their approach for fighting it.
