Liu Shao-Chi and Sukarno Sign Communique

(Original Caption) 4/20/1963-Djakarta, Indonesia- Communist Chinese president Liu Shao-Chi (L) and Indonesian president Sukarno (R) sign a joint communique, at the end of the state visit of Liu and his party, which began on April 12. Liu pledged in the communique full support for Sukarno's efforts to block formation of the Malaysia federation, and the statement also called for a peaceful settlement of the Sino-Indian border dispute. After signing, the leaders left for Burma.
