PARIS, FRANCE - NOVEMBER 13: Exiled Italian Crown Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy (Vittorio Emanuele) is led handcuffed 13 November 1991 to the prisoners dock at Paris Criminal Court, where he faces manslaughter charges in the accidental death of German tourist Dik Hamer in Corsica in December1978. The son of Queen Marie-JosT and her husband King Umberto II of Italy and the head of Italy's exiled royal family, Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy welcomed 06 February 2002 in Gstaad as a "first step" a vote by Italian lawmakers to lift a 56-year-old ban on the heirs to the throne and allow them back into the country. The royal family was barred from Italy because of ex-king Victor Emmanuel III's collaboration with the 1922-43 fascist regime of Benito Mussolini.
