Five-month old Ayush Nayek, who is recovering following surgery to treat an extremely rare heart condition, sits on the lap over her mother Suparna Nayek during a press conference held at the M.S. Narayana Heart Centre in Bangalore on June 7, 2013. Ayush, who at three months was diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and multiple other health complications, underwent surgery at the hospital when doctors discovered he was suffering from an extremely rare and rapidly lethal congenital heart disease called Anomalous Single Coronary Artery from Pulmonary Artery (ASCAPA), where there is a single coronary artery with an anomalous origin from a pulmonary artery instead on an aorta. Medical specialists successfully conducted surgery on Ayush, who they claim is only the tenth reported patient worldwide and the first in India to have the heart condition.
