Hank Greenberg Crosses The Plate
Hank Greenberg, hard-hitting left fielder for the Detroit Tigers, crosses home plate from third on first baseman Rudy York's left field fly to Bob Johnson, of the Philadelphia Athletics, only to be called out by umpire Rommel for not having touched the plate. Catcher Frank Hayes, of the Athletics, missed the tag. Umpire Romme seems to be calling Greenberg safe, though. The play occurred in the fifth inning.
