Five Brooklyn Dodgers Posing with Bats
(Original Caption) Here are five of the Brooklyn Dodgers' sluggers whose bats are responsible for "Dem Bums" being in first place with the nearest team, the St. Louis Cardinals, 6 1/2 games behind. Left to right, the players are: Duke Snyder, center fielder; Gil Hodges, first baseman; Jackie Robinson, 2nd sacker, whose batting average leads the National League; Pee Wee Reese, shortstop; and catcher Roy Campanella. Carl Furillo, Gene Hermanski and Billy Cox, to mention a few others, plus the Dodger pitching staff, are helping also in the Brooklyn bid to cop the 1951 pennant.
