Eight-Year Anniversary of Civil War in Yemen Marked With Rally

The civil war in Yemen began in 2014 with Iran-linked Houthi insurgents taking control of of the country's capital and largest city Sana'a from the the Sunni government. That same year, an international coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched attacks on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and imposed a punishing land, sea, and air blockade on the country, depriving it of essential commodities including food and medicine. Yemen today is considered the worst of the world's humanitarian crises, with more than 230,000 deaths and over 4 million displaced, while more than 20 million of Yemen's 30-million population depend on assistance.
