Former Stasi Prison Hosts Rock Concerts 25 Years Since Its Closure

BERLIN, GERMANY - SEPTEMBER 29: Hubertus Knabe Wilhelm-Buche, director of the Berlin-Hohenschonhausen Memorial, opens a concert of the former East German rock band "Speiches Monokel" at the Hohenschoenhausen memorial and former prison of the East German Stasi secret police on the 25th anniversary of the prison's closure on September 29, 2015 in Berlin, Germany. The prison was used by the authorities of Communist East Germany to hold, interrogate and also torture political prisoners. "Speiches Monokel" was among bands persecuted by the Stasi. The prison officially closed in 1990 and today is a museum and memorial.
