Cooker made by GEC of Witton in 1935.
In 1914 over 40,000 houses in Birmingham were still without an indoor water supply and around 58,000 households shared an outdoor toilet. In the new suburban home people had a separate kitchen area, (scullery) and their own private toilet. Sculleries were basic and contained a Belfast sink, boiler and gas cooker.
