The activity of processing and hoarding of the new crop, mainly rice, is known as the festival of 'Nabanna' (New Crop), observed in Bengal villages during the Agrahayn month (mid-November to mid-December) of the Bengali calender, which culminates in celebrating with food and dance and music.
