Gene Felton - Sports Car Racer

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — Late-1960s: Gene Felton of Marietta, GA, gets set for the start of an SCCA road racing event at Daytona International Speedway early in his career. Felton saw his first races at Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, GA, when he would sneak into the events through a storm sewer pipe. His first races were stock car events at the Peach Bowl Speedway near downtown Atlanta, then he competed with NASCAR’s Grand American division, driving a Chevrolet Camaro in 1970 and 1971.
