Eddie Arcaro Winning Preakness on Nashua
(Original Caption) Nashua, urged on by jockey Eddie Arcaro, scooted across the finish line three-quarters of a length ahead of Saratoga to win the 79th running of the Preakness in record time at Pimlico yesterday. Jockey Nick Shuk had Saratoga in the lead almost form the start, but lost it coming down the home stretch as Arcaro pushed his mount out in front. the winner's time was one minute, 54-3/5th seconds for the mile and three sixteenths classic.
