McKissick, national director of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), carries a sign reading "Black Power" after joining a picket line in front of the Apollo Theater in Harlem. McKissick participated in a demonstration held by an organization calling itself "Black Mothers Enraged," which protested the drafting of Negroes to fight in Vietnam.
