(Original Caption) 4/15/1961-New York, NY: Kansas City's Jerry Lumpe (l) crashes into New York's Mickey Mantle after firing the ball onto first base in the seventh inning of their game in New York April 15. Bill Skowron grounded to shortstop Dick Howser, who flipped the ball to Lumpe forcing Mantle at second. The throw was wild, and allowed Hector Lopez, who was on second when the play started, to score for the Yankees. The Yankees won, 5-3. The gent calling Mantle out is umpire Sal Smith.
