Turkish scientists completed National Arctic Research Expedition
NORWAY- JULY 14: Team conduct research as scientists, who participated in Turkiyeâs 2nd Arctic Expedition coordinated by TUBITAK MAM Polar Research Institute, and Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology, take part in the research studies in the Barents Sea in Norway on July 14, 2022. The scientists have returned to Istanbul after the 22-day expedition. A team of 9 scientists, who sailed in the Barents Sea with the 42-meter research vessel called Polar eXplorer, completed a scientific research for 14 different projects at 24 different sampling points on their route in the Arctic Ocean. Data were collected for the projects such as zooplankton and phytoplankton sampling, determination of pollutants in the sea, monitoring of seawater physical parameters, atmospheric pollution observations in the marine area on subjects including microplastics, meteorological observations, environmental effects of shipping trade routes, observing sea ice and tracking marine mammals.
