Riad Salameh (L), the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon (CBL) and US ambassador to Lebanon Vincent Battle sign an agreement for a feasibility study on linking Lebanese banks electronically, in a move to boost baking security and transactions, at the Central Bank in Beirut 23 November 2001. The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) grant is valued at 630,745 USD, half the cost of the study, the other half being financed by the CBL, the Assoiciation of Lebanese Banks and the US hi-tech firm Hewlett Packard.
