India - Varanasi - A Sadhu at the Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi
A Sadhu in his niche. The Ghats of Varanasi are the cemented stairs on the western bank of the River Ganges leading to the holy water of the river. There may be more than a hundred Ghats in the city. The Tulsi Ghat is associated with the great poet of the Hindu religious epic Ramayana. It signifies the win of truthful and righteous over evil. It is believed that the first enactment of the story of Lord Rama was conducted on this Ghat. (Photo by Arne Hodalic/Corbis via Getty Images)
