(Original Caption) St. Louis Cardinals' SS Dal Maxvill (l) hurries his throw as he leaps out of the way of sliding Cincinnati Reds' Pete Rose (14) in the seventh inning of Cards-Reds game, 7/14. Maxvill (r) tumbles over the back of Rose as Reds' Joe Morgan races for first base. Rose was forced out at second when Morgan hit to Cards' 2nd baseman Ed Crosby. Crosby threw to Maxvill for the force out but Morgan beat the ball to first.
