The children of some of the nearly 300 C
HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS: The children of some of the nearly 300 Chinese who fear for their safety, await their flight as they are flown out of the troubled Solomon Islands on chartered aircraft provided by Beijing after losing all their possessions in the recent riots in Honiara, 22 April 2006. The first flight carrying 89 people left with more flights scheduled for 23 April. Chinese diplomat Gao Feng told AFP that the Chineses had been sheltering at a police club in Honiara since 18 April when Solomon Islands protesters looted and burned Chinatown in a violent reaction to the election of Snyder Rini as the Pacific archipelago's new prime minister.
