JORDAN-LIBYA-US-WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM
The son of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi Seif al-Islam speaks to reporters after the opening session of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Dead Sea resort of Shuneh, 35 kms west of Amman, 20 May 2005. The young Kadhafi predicted his country would soon open an embassy in Washington, marking a further step in the gradual rapprochement between the two former foes. Relations between the two countries have been improving since Tripoli agreed to a compensation settlement over the 1988 bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland and in 2003 renounced weapons of mass destruction.
