Third Baseman Stepping On Sliding Player
(Original Caption) 10/10/1934: The weird game between the Cardinals and the Tigers, which ended 11-0 and won the series for the Cards, was held up for almost 20 minutes in the sixth inning when fans in the left field bleachers hurled bottles, fruit, etc. at Cards' left fielder Joe Medwick until he was forced to retire from the game. The bit of action that created the disturbance is pictured here, as Medwick is shown sliding into third base, while Tigers' third baseman Marve Owen seems to be stepping on him. This led to a near-fight.
