(COMBO) -- This combination of pictures created on October 01, 2018 shows a photo taken on December 13, 2008 of then Iraqi deputy prime minister Barham Saleh (L) and a picture taken on April 11, 2016 showing Fuad Hussein, then chief of staff at the presidency of the Kurdistan regional government. With parliament summoned to elect a new Iraqi president, the Kurds' two historic parties are for the first time contesting the post which is reserved for a Kurd. The PUK's Barham Saleh, a 58-year-old moderate, has served in both administrations, as Iraqi deputy premier and Kurdish prime minister. His rival for the post of president is the KDP's Fuad Hussein, a 69-year-old close to KDP leader Massud Barzani and veteran of the opposition to Saddam Hussein.
