Villa Madeira Murder Scene
Villa Madeira, the home of home of Architect Francis Rattenbury (1867 - 1935) and his second wife, Alma, in Manor Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, 7th June 1935. On 23rd March 1935, Rattenbury was murdered in the ground floor room on the left, by his wife's lover, George Percy Stoner. Alma Rattenbury was acquitted of murder and of being an accessory after the fact, but committed suicide a few days after her trial. Stoner was convicted and sentenced to death, but his sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment after a petition was signed by 300,000 people.
