Girl Being Deloused at Encampment

(Original Caption) Whether she likes it or not, this little Italian girl is going to get her panties dusted. A Neapolitan member of a contact squad is ready to give the tot "the gun." Fighting with the spray gun and vaccination needle, the U.S. Army is waging war against typhus in Naples, and carrying out one of the greatest delousing programs ever taken, as shown here. When it was discovered that Neapolitans were prostrated by the contagious fever which is transmitted by body lice, the U.S. Army, aided by experts from the Rockefeller Foundation, immediately set up a Typhus Commission, consisting of five coordinated branches, such as this one.
