While the city of Tustin awaits transfer of the Marine Corps Air Station from the Navy the remains of a burnt flight line shack frames one of two historic hangars. This northern hangar, might be used for recreational use and sits in what would be an Orange County regional park, in the City's proposed reuse plans. Despite a new law that was supposed to make it easier for cities to take over closed military bases in their vicinties, the city of Tustin claims it has been stonedwalled by the Navy when it comes to planning for the transfer of the former Tustin Marine Corps Air station for cvilian uses.
