Guarana berry and seeds - stock photo
Guarana, original fruit of the state of Amazonas, and introduced to the colonisers by the indian tribes of the region of Maués, where the sundries seeds provide for an invigorating drink. Today, it is also sold as a soft-drink, and Manaus, the state capital, was known for being the only major city in the world, where the total of all Cola flavoured soft-drinks were not market leader: Guaraná was. Now they stand neck-to-neck for local preference.
