MITOSIS (TELOPHASE and CYTOKINESIS) in a PLANT, CELL PLATE and DAUGHTER CELLS, onion (Allium) Root Tip, 400X - stock photo
MITOSIS (TELOPHASE and CYTOKINESIS) in a PLANT, CELL PLATE and DAUGHTER CELLS, Onion (Allium) Root Tip, 400X. TELOPHASE is the last stage of Mitosis. A CELL PLATE is very evident in the equatorial region of the Spindle. This is an integral part of CYTOKINESIS--the division of the cytoplasm. During Telophase the Chromosomes start uncoiling forming long Chromatin threads, a new nuclear envelope forms around each group of chromosomes, and two nuclei form, one in each of the daughter cells. The resulting DAUGHTER CELLS then return to interphase, and the cell cycle continues. This image also shows the MITOTIC SPINDLE and SPINDLE FIBERS (Microtubules).
