Mangrove tree at Chatham bend - stock photo
Mangrove trees, with their exposed roots, hang over the landing at Chatham Bend, former home of E. J. Watson in the 10,000 islands, Florida. Watson was killed by his neighbors on Chokkoloskee island in 1910 due to his reputation for murdering people. His story was the subject of Peter Matthiessen's novel, Killing Mr. Watson.
