Rete testis, light micrograph - stock photo
Light micrograph of the rete testis. 'Rete' refers to a structure which resembles a net, as do the interconnected tubular structures (blue-purple) of the rete testis. The rete tubules are present within fibrous connective tissue (pink). The rete testis tubules connect the seminiferous tubules of the testis, which produce sperm, with the efferent ducts of the epididymis, which is the next structure that sperm pass through as they are transported through the male genital tract. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10cm
