The Guaita tower is one of the three Towers of the small European country of San Marino; the oldest of the three towers, and the most famous. It was constructed in the 11th century and for a short period served as a prison. It was rebuilt numerous times and reached its current form in the 15th century.
The Three Towers of San Marino are a national landmark; they are depicted on both the national flag and the coat of arms.
